Welcome back to the final leg of our house tour!
We saved the best for last because this space is all about indoor/outdoor living. And yes you can make that happen here in the Mid-Atlantic! We adore this dining space with it’s large expanse of black interior windows and simple white shiplap walls. It really allows the greenery in the outdoor landscape to shine! The large light draws your eye upward to the pitched ceiling and the decor remains simple and fresh with lots of texture and organic materials. Simple, calming and beautiful.
In case you were wondering the above carpet is beautiful and yes it’s indoor/outdoor! Custom cut to fit the space perfectly.
One of the best features of this kitchen/dining space is the indoor/outdoor living. Our clients installed folding sliding glass doors. You can see them open below.
With a Bi-fold system, each panel of the door folds on top of the adjacent panel as it opens. (Think of it like an accordion fold.) This creates a huge patio door opening that really lets the outside in. When fully opened, the panels are stacked and folded against each other. This door works very well for replacement door projects because the weight of the door is bottom loaded. This means that you do not have to add a structural support beam into to the top of your wall to support the weight of the door.
So run don’t walk to your nearest building supply company and replace those old glass sliders!
The folding door allows the dining space to feel expansive. And we can’t forget that it just looks super cool and gives the whole lower level that WOW factor! In addition to folding doors you can also install stacked doors which have been specified in the beach front house we are designing now.
One of our favorite elements of this outdoor space in addition to the cool lighting is the dining table with it’s timber legs. We were obsessed with this when we found it on one of our buying trips. This was the perfect project because this home is so nature-inspired.
The outdoor lounge room features a sectional sofa with ottomans and an outdoor TV all set up for watching fall football (GO EAGLES!). The stone fireplace and flagstone patio are gorgeous and ties in the outdoor fireplace with the indoor one.
You can see the bi-fold doors closed here which brings us to the end of the tour. We sure hope you enjoyed it and thanks for following along!! I wanted to thank our clients for their amazing taste/aesthetic and sweet personalities … it’s what made this project so successful. In addition they were so generous with our firm allowing us to literally take over their home for weeks to install, accessorize and photograph their beautiful home!
