AV Beach House Progress

I know it’s September but I still have beach houses on my mind and I just had to share our latest project.

Our clients came to us with architectural drawings and a local builder hired. They were struggling with the amount of design decisions to be made and didn’t want to make a mistake considering the investment they were making in their dream home. With our experience and the client’s list of needs we made a few changes to the drawings like moving the powder room door, changing out door styles and improving and specifying beautiful millwork on the first and second floor. With the plans set we then set out to make all finish selections, lighting, interior furnishings, etc. It’s truly a group effort with the architect, builder, trades and designers to achieve a successful and beautiful project.

Here is the entry nook in our latest beach project. It features a custom teak table from Indonesia we found on one of our buying trips. We had the piece cut down so it could fit into this nook perfectly. Very simple styling, shiplap walls and a black and white color scheme keeps the space feeling beachy yet very sophisticated. We also love the woven black and white pouf we had shipped in from Spain!

Detail on this one-of-a-kind table.

The kitchen continues with the same sophisticated black, white and warm wood theme.

My client made the white oak open shelves by hand. Yep, you heard that right! My client is an oncologist who loves to make furniture and shelving. At some point we’ll share the table and wood countertop he made. Amazingly talented!

The black hardware and countertop contrast beautifully with the white kitchen and light gray island.

We typically don’t mix countertop materials in beach house kitchens but in here … it really works!

Next up is the master bathroom.

The vanity is made of walnut and warms up the charcoal tile.

I love the sleekness of this tub and the cool leather stool.

Just the beginnings of the master bedroom styling with a white slipcovered headboard. We are adding grasscloth, nightstands and art!

And just a peek of the daughters bedding — a perfect mix of pattern and textures!

That’s all for now! Thanks for following along! We will update you as we continue to work at the beach this winter and work on more projects close to home. Hopefully …. I am a little hit or miss on blog post writing!
