One Room Challenge: Week Three

If you missed my other posts click below.
Before I spill the beans on week three I have to give a BIG shout out to Andrew Lam who popped over and took these pictures today. He was soooo nice to take time out of his busy day to do this for me. And he totally nailed it! Thanks Andrew!!
Also I have to thank my client who has let me take pictures and pop in whenever I feel like it and a special thanks to the contractors who (let's face it) did all of the real hard work here, so...
Okay, onto week three--the kitchen is almost finished. Complete with white shaker style cabinetry, marble counter tops, black island with marble counter tops, a cozy window seat and a whole lot more.
The magic is really in the transformation. Doesn't even resemble the previous kitchen! Let's revisit the before...
Now here's the after... you might want to sit down for this.
Whaaaat????????? Here's more...
Looks even better than I imagined. Can't wait for all of the finishing touches:)
And onto the eating area  -- not much progress here. You can see where the navy and white striped chairs are going-- or maybe by the fireplace? haven't really decided yet.
Speaking of the striped chairs... here's a sneak peek. I can barely contain my excitement!!

Crazy bold! Too bold?? Hell to the no!

Next week I'm gonna share the good, the bad and the ugly of this first floor reno. So keep tuning in!!
Pop on over to Calling it Home to see the other participants and their fabulous progress!!

One Room Challenge ... a kitchen and eating area makeover in six weeks! yikes.

All righty then - the pressure is on! I'm  linking up with Linda at Calling it Home for the One Room Challenge. Click here to learn more about the ORC! It's gonna be a fun and crazy six weeks because that's exactly how long I'll have to redo a clients eating area and kitchen (the kitchen is already underway I'm just including it for fun and to elevate the level of suspense!)

Here are the before pictures of the kitchen...

The kitchen is getting a total face lift with new cabinetry, counter tops, back splash and fixtures. The peninsula is getting demolished and a shiny new island will be taking it's place. The eating area is going to be relocated to the family's current living room to allow for big spacious family dinners and fabulous get- togethers!
Here is the current family room which will be turned into a larger eating area for everyone to enjoy:)

That's my guy who refused to get out of the pic. little ham.
The plan for this room you ask? Well, I'm gonna paint it a rich navy, reuse the dining table and chairs and recover wing chairs for comfy seating for the host and hostess. We also need to add window treatments and accessories.
As always we like to reuse what we have and keep to a very tight but reasonable budget!!
Wish me luck and keep tuning in once a week as we progress.
 and please
Check back every Thursday to get my updates!

Cost of decorating a room

Ever wonder what it costs to redo an entire room over from top to bottom?
Well, awhile back the amazing Lauren Liess of Pure Style Home wrote a fantastic article on this very subject. She gives examples of low, medium and high decorating options.
Check it out here! And poke around her site a bit --Lauren is an incredible designer with such a generous spirit!
Thanks for reading! xoxo!
Until next time....
