Purple passion for spring - a new client room in the works!!

Here's a quick progress report on a room I'm doing with a bohemian chic vibe to it.
These pillows arrived today from the work room looking all awesome and stuff.

This room isn't finished yet but this ROMA fabric and a lush purple velvet from Kravet was our jumping off point for the design.
Here's where we started with a very neutral palette. Pretty no doubt,  but we needed a little punch of purple.

First, we recovered these wing chairs in a rich purple velvet
and placed them on the other side of the room to flank the window ---  we need a new table to hang out between these two beauties with more of a bohemian vibe.
These are the other two pillows on the facing sofa. We're also in the process of purchasing a larger console table for behind this sofa.
There are two sofa's in this room that will face each other --no pictures because we need to recover the other sofa in the matching fabric and create new back cushions.
Not an inexpensive choice but in the end will help the room feel more tailored and symmetrical.
I love the idea of matching sofas facing each other in a room. Plenty of room to leisurely lay around and watch TV or provide plenty of seating to entertain!
Here are more examples of this seating arrangement

Don't you just love it!!?
Thanks for reading!! xoxo

Slowly moving along

I have a few updates I wanted to share.

Here are pillows ready for delivery.

FABULOUS! I know. Can't stand it.
The fabric is Kravet and only available to the trade.
They look soooo gooooood.
I hate to see them leave me:(
I mean they look incredible in my living room.
They are just the perfect pop!
Maybe I'll tell my client they dropped out of my car and got all nasty from the slushy mess.
I'm also dropping off this rug sample from Company C. Great rug for anyone looking for a gray patterned carpet.

I just had these framed and will deliver them next week. They're  a part of a mini-bedroom- refresh. I won't forget to share the pictures next week after I hang them.
Elephant prints available here at the Pink Pagoda for only $35 a print!
And what about all of that black trim? Well it's been painted out. Waiting for furniture that will arrive in early March.
That is one hellava TV!!

Painting out the windows on both sides has really helped the TV blend in (said no one ever)...

Just kidding LW!!

To be continued ....

Am I white or am I right?

I would love to have an all white house with painted wood floors. Doesn't it look so relaxing and serene? sighhhhhh ... someday.
I would need a full time staff just to keep up with the mud and grime that would plague me, and honestly, ... aint nobody got time for that.

But I do want to let you in on a little secret about these spaces ... in reality, most of these rooms don't even look like these rooms.

It's kind of like celebrities before and after a makeup artist gets a hold of them. Most of the beautiful rooms we see in magazines are photographed and styled by serious professionals (see some below).

Scott and Emily have worked at Martha Stewart Living and countless other place on styling photo shoots -- not sure who the other guy is???

Before a magazine shoot, stylists and decorators come in and remove clutter, change out rugs, add accessories, side tables etc. And the photographers -- well they can transform any room into a work of art with lighting and their mad photography skillz. It's basically like airbrusing for your home!

Feel better? No?

Do you know there is an entire website dedicated to poking fun at the way stylists arrange a room for catalog/magazine photo shoots?

It's called Catalog Living ... a glimpse into the exciting world of  the people living in your catalogs. Check it out here. Total silliness.

Stuff I'm loving

This Flooring

Could my love affair with dark hardwood floors be over?

I don't know these are looking mighty good to me. Pretty french oak flooring ... possibly in a distressed grayish finish? I've been seeing it all over the shelter magazines.

MUCH easier to  maintain ... would hide the dirt ... the dog could do 360's and I think it would actually make the floor look better??? What do you think?

This Hair

Speaking of hair, I have a confession to make I have frizzy, curly uncontrollable locks. I love them but every once in awhile I feel the need to get my hair straightened.

I go to Salon Ziza in Ardmore to get a process called Lazzio (not sure of spelling) so that my hair is summer-ready. Gone are the days of waiting three days to wash your hair to get that sleek smooth straight hair -- its only 24 hours now.

They do an amazing job -- also, wait -- are you sitting down? Salon Ziza offers a rewards program where you can get a shampoo, express conditioner and an amazing blow dry for $20! Yep - doesn't get any better than that my friends. Now there are specific rules that apply in order to receive this discounted price but call them and they will explain. BEST DEAL IN TOWN!

Ok, bye for now -- next time we are going to discuss outdoor rooms-- so fun!!

It's official -- I've gone Mad in March!

Random Thoughts

Have you ever wondered how to get that fresh from the hair salon blow dry?

Well, the wait is over people. I found a great how-to on the fabulous Camille Styles website. Check it out here.

Two things I've had learned in pursuit of a good blow-dry:
1. Be patient and take your time
2.  Separate your hair into small easily workable sections
Hope you enjoy your day!
